Cyanotype: A Hands-On Introduction to the Blue Print Process

In celebration of World Cyanotype Day, PhotoPlace Gallery and Middlebury Studio School invite you to explore one of photography’s oldest and most distinctive alternative processes through a hands-on cyanotype workshop. Participants will learn the basic cyanotype process from start to finish, including coating paper with light-sensitive chemistry, arranging photographic negatives and objects, exposing prints to UV light, and developing the finished image in water.
Each participant will have the opportunity to create approximately 2–4 original cyanotype prints during the workshop.
All necessary materials will be provided. No previous cyanotype or darkroom experience is necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring their own plants, flowers, found objects, transparencies, or negatives to experiment with.

Participants who would like to make a cyanotype from one of their own photographs may email an image file to photoplacegallery@gmail.com when registering, and a digital negative will be prepared for use during the workshop.

When registering for a class online, a credit card payment is required. If you prefer to pay with a check, please contact us at info@middleburystudioschool.org to register.

Cancellation & Refund Policy: Refunds will only be issued for registration cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the first day of class or workshop.
