Shibori for Kids: Ne Maki Magic

Children will explore the ancient Japanese art of Shibori—a captivating method of resist dyeing in this hands-in this hands-on workshop. We'll focus on the Ne-Maki technique, where found objects are folded, wrapped, or twisted into fabric to create original patterns as the dye flows around them.
We’ll kick off the adventure with a nature-based treasure hunt, gathering items like shells, stones, and sticks to incorporate into our textile creations. Then the real magic begins as we experiment with vibrant dyes and get creative with a variety of folding techniques.
Each piece becomes a mystery waiting to be revealed—no two patterns are ever the same! Kids will leave with their own custom dyed textiles, along with a deeper appreciation for color, and the inspiration nature provides. Materials Included, Each participant will dye a drawstring backpack & bandana. Ages 8-12
