Make a Beautiful Leaf Lantern: (Two Sessions)

Lanterns have a history of lighting up harvest festivals throughout the world. Create your own beautiful but simple lantern using paper-mache and beautiful fall leaves. In the first class of this two part class, we will make a sturdy form with paper-mache. In the second class, we will paint, decorate the lanterns and attach materials for hanging them.

All Ages are welcome

Materials:
Session One:
-Latex balloons (Regular birthday-party size or several small balloons) You will only need one if you are working with a bigger balloon, but have an extra in case it pops. If you would like to make mini-lanterns you will need several small balloons.)
-Roll of white paper towels (The less textured kind works best!)
-White school glue (2 - 8 oz bottles or one large bottle)
-Pressed leaves, flowers or other thin/small objects from nature.
-Plastic tablecloth or newspaper to cover your working surface
-Large plastic yogurt or other container to place your balloon on while working.
Session Two:
-Scissors
-Hole punch
-String or Yarn for hanging
-Metallic

• Acrylic paint
  -Optional beads and glitter for decorating the lantern
  -Battery operated tealight candle (not needed during class sessions)
