Workshop in Sgraffito Techniques

In this workshop we will cover the sgraffito techniques including carving techniques, creating context, and considering glazing for the final piece. The instructor will provide some “test tiles” to practice the actual carving on. Students should bring two or three leather-hard pieces they would like to decorate. Students can also bring images sized to their pieces if they have a special design in mind. The instructor will also bring some design images that can be used by students. Brushes and underglaze that can be fired from Cone5 to Cone10 will be provided.
